Main machine configurations of chewing gum machines and bubble gum machine

Chewing gum making machine

  1. Main machines

Mixer: used to mix the chewing gum raw materials, such as gum base, sweetener, spices, etc., to ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Extruder: extrudes the mixed materials into shape, the hopper is usually made of stainless steel, the screw has PTFE coating, and the extrusion head can be insulated by water circulation.

Skin press: key machine, press the material into the required thickness and shape through multiple press rollers, usually 6 press rollers, cooling while molding.

Molding machine: according to customer’s demand, to produce different sizes and shapes of chewing gum.

Polishing pan: used for polishing the surface of chewing gum to improve the appearance quality.

Packing machine: Automatically complete the packaging of chewing gum, there are pillow packing machine, vertical packing machine, etc., to improve the production efficiency.

2.Types of Chewing Gum Production Line
Chewing Gum Production Line: it can produce piece and pillow type chewing gum, the output is about 150-300kg/h.

Full-automatic chewing gum production line: including mixer, extruder, tablet press, molding machine, packaging machine, etc. It realizes automatic production, improves efficiency and ensures product quality.

Bubble gum making machine

  1. Main machines

Mixer: similar to chewing gum, used for mixing raw materials.

Extruder: extruding bubble gum material to form the base shape.

Shaped bubble gum molding machine: produce oval, ball, watermelon and other special shapes of bubble gum.

Cooling Cabinet: Quickly cool the molded bubble gum for subsequent processing.

Sugar Coating Machine: Coat the surface of bubble gum with sugar coating to increase the taste and aesthetics.

Sandwich machine: optional, can be filled with jam, powdered sugar, etc. in the center of bubble gum to produce sandwich bubble gum.

Packing machine: specially used for packing bubble gum, adapting to different shapes and sizes.

  1. Types of Bubble Gum Production Line
Spherical Bubble Gum Production Line: It is composed of mixer, extruder, molding machine, cooling cabinet, sugar coating machine, and the output is about 150 kg/h.

Difference production process of chewing gum and bubble gum

The difference between the production process of chewing gum and bubble gum

The production process of chewing gum and bubble gum differs in many aspects, mainly in the selection of raw materials, gum base treatment, additive ratio, molding process and packaging methods.

Raw material selection
Chewing gum:
Gum base: synthetic rubber, polyvinyl acetate, etc. are commonly used to provide basic chewability.
Sweeteners: powdered sugar, glucose, artificial sweeteners, etc. are used.
Flavorings: Added in amounts of about 1% to give the gum a specific flavor.

Bubble gum:
Gum base: emphasizes elasticity and bubble blowing, often adding natural rubber, plastic rubber and resin.
Sweetener: In addition to powdered sugar and dextrose, syrup is added to increase softness.
Flavor: The amount added is about 0.6-0.8%, and additives to enhance the strength of the skin film are also needed.

Gum base treatment
Gum: The gum base is mixed with the additives in a kneading machine at a low temperature range to avoid overheating and deterioration. The mixing time is relatively short to ensure the softness and elasticity of the gum base.

Bubble gum: The gum base is fully refined in a high shear kneading machine to enhance its viscoelasticity and bubble blowing properties. Longer mixing times and higher temperatures may be required to ensure that the gum base is fully integrated with the components.

Additive ratios
Chewing gum: the ester gum base is about 25% and the sugar and other ingredients are about 75%. The focus is on the balance of taste and flavor.
Bubble gum: Higher proportion of gum base to enhance bubble blowing ability. More softeners and plasticizers are added to make the candy softer and easier to blow.

Molding process
Chewing gum: the mixed material is pressed into sheets by extruder and then cut into desired shapes. The process is relatively simple and focuses on uniformity of thickness and shape.
Bubble gum: It needs to be extruded, stretched, cooled and other processes to form strips or specific shapes. Some bubble candies will be added with sandwich or special shape, the process is more complicated.

Packaging
Chewing gum: usually in single-piece or strip packaging, with moisture-proof and anti-sticking packaging materials.
Bubble gum: in addition to single-piece packaging, there are large packages or canned form, easy to access and sales.
Packaging process needs to pay attention to prevent the sugar body sticking, to ensure the integrity of the product.

Summary: The production process of bubble gum pays more attention to the elasticity of the gum base and the performance of blowing bubbles, with the addition of ingredients to enhance the strength of the skin film, and the molding process is more complex to meet the demand for blowing bubbles; while chewing gum focuses on the taste and aroma of the blend, the process is relatively simple, and the main emphasis is on the chewing experience.

Shelf life of chewing gum and bubble gum

Chewing gum and bubble gum typically have a shelf life of 9 to 18 months, depending on the brand, ingredients and how the product is packaged. Below is information on the shelf life of some common products:

Chewing gum
Yida Gum: Shelf life is 9 months.
(Hyunmax chewing gum: Shelf life is usually 18 months, with some products such as Summer Special flavors being 540 days and 15 months).
Arrow gum: shelf life is usually 12 months.

Bubble gum
Green Arrow Great Big Bubble Gum: shelf life is usually 12 months.
Other brands of bubble gum: shelf life is mostly 9 months to 18 months, specific to the product packaging labeling shall prevail.

Factors affecting the shelf life

  1. Packaging:
Unopened: stored in a cool and dry place, the labeled shelf life can be maintained.
Opened: It is recommended to consume the product as soon as possible. After opening, the product is susceptible to air, humidity and temperature, and the shelf life will be shortened.
  2. Storage conditions:
High temperature: will accelerate the deterioration of chewing gum and bubble gum, resulting in softening, deformation or melting.
Humidity: It will make the product absorb moisture and become soft, and may breed bacteria and mold.
Direct sunlight: May cause product discoloration and flavor changes.

To determine whether the product is expired

  1. Check the package date: Pay attention to the production date and shelf life to avoid consuming expired products.
  2. Observe the appearance and texture:
Color change: obvious color spots or darker color.
Texture changes: hardening, softening, sticky or moldy spots on the surface.
Adhesion to the packaging: serious adhesion to the wrapping paper. 3.
  3. Smell:
Odor: sour, musty or other pungent odor.
    Cautions
Expired products are not recommended: expired gum and bubble gum may have deteriorated ingredients and affect health.

Summary: To ensure optimal taste and safety, it is recommended to consume the product within its shelf life and take care to store it properly. If abnormal changes are found in the product, it is not recommended to consume it even if it has not expired.
